How can the Career Center support academic courses?

Thank you for your interest in supporting Brooklyn College students. It truly takes a village to support students in reaching their career goals!

Ways Magner Can Support

• Play for your class videos of pre-recorded events so they can gain exposure to different career paths
  • Koppelman School of Business
  • School of Education
  • School of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences
  • School of Visual, Media, and Performing Arts
• Invite our staff or an alumni to visit your class by emailing careernews@brooklyn.cuny.edu. Please note requests for speakers should be made in advance for us to accommodate.
• Have your students attend one of our events for class attendance.

Key Resources & Information

• Students can meet with a Career Coach in in small groups during walk in hours (Wednesday) or via appointments. This includes resume review and interview prep. For appointments, students schedule through Navigate.

• Students should pay attention to the emails sent and check the following platforms frequently (BC Handshake, Instagram and LinkedIn Group). They should also bookmark our events page.

• Online/self service resources: We have many pages on BC Knowledge that students can access anytime. Students are encouraged to review our online resources on their own to make the most of their time with a career coach. For example:

  • Interview Prep
  • Career Exploration
  • Finding a Job
  • Finding an Internship
  • Self Guided Career Resources
  • Walk in Wednesday (for group resume review)
  • Schedule Group Appointments for Interview Prep, Career Advice etc.

• Services once students graduate: Access to appointments (Navigate) ends once students graduate therefore, students should take advantage of career services while they are enrolled. In collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement we do host group career counseling for alumni. To find out more about what career services are available after graduation visit our webpage.

• Employers who want to recruit can chose among a set of pre-planned dates and activities to streamline our recruiting processes. More information can be found via our website.
