Ways You Can Support Students
- Add the following to your syllabus: “What will you do after you graduate? The Magner Center, located in 1303 James Hall, has valuable resources including résumé and interview preparation, finding an internship, choosing a career, and more. Please review their 2 minute commercial and their How to Plan Your Career Success webpage. Email them at careernews@brooklyn.cuny.edu or call 718 951 5696 to find out how to get started. It is never to early to get started!”
- Post or play this video in class: Magner Career Center 2 minute commercial.
- Additional resources for faculty who want to bring Career Readiness into the classroom including a self-guided career journal and class assignments that engage career readiness.
Key Resources
- Students can meet with a Career Coach in in small groups during walk in hours (Wednesday) or via appointments. This includes resume review and interview prep. For appointments, students schedule through Navigate
- Students should pay attention to the emails sent and check the following platforms frequently (BC Handshake, Instagram and LinkedIn Group). They should also bookmark our events page
- Online/self service resources: We have many new pages on BC Knowledge that students can access anytime. Students are encouraged to review our online resources on their own to make the most of their time with a career coach. For example:
- To reach as many students as possible we ask all faculty to share/play the Magner Career Center 2 minute commercial in class or online platform they
- Service once students graduate: Access to appointments (Navigate) ends once students graduate therefore, students should take advantage of career services while they are enrolled. In collaboration with the Office of Alumni Affairs we do host group career counseling for alumni about once a month. - Employers who want to recruit can chose among a set of pre-planned dates and activities to streamline our recruiting processes. More information can be found via our website.
