As work continues around Brooklyn College’s iconic Lily Pond, the koi and turtles remain safe, healthy, and carefully cared for throughout the project. The college community will be welcomed back to enjoy this treasured campus landmark once the work is complete.
As part of regular maintenance and preparations for the Fall semester, an external vendor will be on campus to remove and prune trees across campus. The work is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23.
This update outlines scheduled CUNY system maintenance on August 15 and 16, including intermittent CUNY Login MFA service and a planned 24 hour outage for CUNYfirst and CUNYBuy. CUNYfirst reporting will remain unavailable through Monday morning.
The campus Wi Fi modernization project continues next week with additional work in Boylan Hall, including the installation of new wireless access points in hallways and offices. Work will take place during both daytime and evening hours, so employees should review the schedule to determine whether their location will be impacted.

Emergency maintenance on the campus Academic network will begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. today. While no major downtime is expected, users may experience intermittent network connectivity as maintenance is performed.
Construction on the East Quad continues on schedule, with a new phase beginning June 1, 2026, that will temporarily change pedestrian access routes in the area. Community members are encouraged to review updated entry points and pathways as Brooklyn College advances improvements to create a more accessible and student-centered campus space.
A water shutdown is in effect today, 02/10/2026, for Roosevelt Extension due to a domestic hot water pipe break causing an active roadway leak. Facilities Operations is conducting time sensitive repairs to prevent further damage, and updates on service restoration will be shared as they become available.
