There will be a follow-up after the West Phase that will limit access to the full East Quad. We will provide updates as they become available.
Important Campus Access Update: Phase 2 Commences (As of June 1, 2026)
The East Quad Renovation project has progressed to its next major phase. Please note critical shifts in campus pedestrian traffic and entry points effective June 1, 2026:
- Bedford Avenue Entrance Closed: The East Quad entrance along Bedford Avenue is entirely closed to public access. Public Safety will no longer station a guard at the Bedford gate.
- New Active Entrance Route: The primary active entrance to the East Quad, as well as access to the main front entrances and handicapped ramps for Boylan Hall and Ingersoll Hall, is now routed from the east side of the quad (near East 27th Street, Whitehead Hall, and the Student Center).
- On-Site Safety Adjustments: Directional signage has been installed inside surrounding buildings and across the site to guide you safely around the construction zone. Temporary safety fencing, protective mesh around planting areas, and operational temporary lighting are fully active.
Recent Progress: Site preparation completed between May 28 and June 1 included relocating fencing to safely open the main building entrances, installing safety mesh around planting zones, and completing a comprehensive debris sweep.
Campus Impact & What to Expect
- Events: Outdoor events traditionally held on the East Quad will be relocated to the West Quad or inside the Student Center (SUBO).
- Tours: Campus tours will follow updated routes to avoid construction zones while still highlighting the best of our campus.
- Signage: New informational displays featuring project designs will be installed on the construction fencing in the coming weeks.
