List of Major Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Facilitate, develop and drive key strategic initiatives and special projects that Finance and Administration leads and/or participates in, particularly those related to student success, such as the transfer credit alignment initiative to optimize academic momentum and financial aid eligibility.
  2. Participate and play a key role in the college-wide budget and planning process that ensures budgets are aligned with the Brooklyn College strategic plan and institutional priorities that are part of the complex intersectionality of Finance and Administration, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement, faculty, staff, students, and community that Brooklyn College serves.
  3. Work with the SVPFA on long-term strategic planning and assessment in the Finance and Administration division and assist with short-term goals at the direction of the SVPFA. Develop detailed plans (as appropriate), track progress, and assess results.
  4. Serve as internal consultant for outcomes assessment for all areas under Finance and Administration. Review all assessment plans and monitor progress. Make recommendations to the Senior Vice President and Directors.
  5. Partner and develop strong working relationships with institutional leadership, committees, and external stakeholders. Represent the SVPFA on committees and at meetings.
  6. Oversee the operations of the Performing Arts Center (Tow Center and Whitman Hall) to ensure both academic and entrepreneurial needs are met. Work closely with the Dean of Visual, Media, and Performing Arts, the Department of Theater, and the Conservatory of Music to support academic needs. Also, collaborate with Building and Grounds, the Budget Office, the Comptroller’s Office, and Student Financial Services on administrative functions. Develop and implement innovative policies and procedures that elevate service and support to students, faculty, staff, external partners, audiences, and community members.
  7. Oversee the operations of the Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts (Prep Center). The Prep Center provides Skills developed in the arts promote confidence and self-esteem, traits essential for any path taken in life. The Prep Center staff work in collaboration with parents and instructors to ensure the best course of study for students. Children ages three to 18 at all levels of study are welcome. Adults may receive private instruction in music, theater, and dance at beginner to advanced levels, and take group classes in guitar, piano, and voice.
  8. Oversee the College’s Auxiliary Enterprises Services Operation which include in addition to the Tow Center (External rental, food service, catering and vending operations; “pouring rights” contracts; e-bookstores; parking operations; and external testing. Auxiliaries provide auxiliary services through: (i) direct operation (e.g., Tow and Preparatory Centers), (ii) subcontracts with other vendors (e.g., food/vending services), and (iii) by acting as a college’s fiscal agent in connection with a college or University contract or facility (e.g., pouring rights, theater operations) or asset licensing program (e.g., short-term facility use, trademarks). Auxiliary funds include royalties, commissions, and other payments received through their contracts with vendors, licensees, and others, as an integral part within the Finance and Administration portfolio.
  9. As part of SVPFA Employee Success efforts, develop and oversee a comprehensive training program for operational functions in the Finance and Administration division.
  10. Develop and monitor strategic and operational assessment plans. Oversee the documentation of processes, policies, and procedures.
  11. Perform all other tasks assigned by the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration.
