Update: December 20, 2023

Welcome message

We are excited to announce that Brooklyn College employee email is moving to CUNY’s Microsoft 365 platform (M365). Brooklyn College is part of the final wave of CUNY colleges migrating this year. Moving to M365 will greatly expand our email capacity and collaboration options while offering many additional benefits, including:

  • Larger mailboxes: your mailbox size will increase from 2 gigabytes to 100 gigabytes
  • Increased productivity and collaboration: M365 is tightly integrated with the entire Office 365 suite and Teams.
  • Access to powerful new tools like FindTime: a Doodle-like app that simplifies finding meeting times that work for everyone; Bookings: a Calendly-like app that simplifies appointment scheduling; Groups: easily create custom distribution groups for emails, meetings, and sharing files; and To Do: manage and assign tasks for yourself and others
  • Improved access: Access your email and files from any device and location
  • One less password: M365 uses your CUNY Login (the same as CUNYFirst, Blackboard, and Zoom)

To make this transition as smooth as possible, your email messages and folders on our current mail server will be migrated automatically to M365 and your email address will remain the same.

We understand that you may have questions or concerns about this change and encourage you to review the Brooklyn College M365 migration page (employees.brooklyn.edu/m365/) to learn more about the migration and review project updates. ITS will also host Zoom information and support sessions in the coming months to address questions. Stay tuned for more details.

Preparing your mailbox for the M365 migration

To ensure a smooth migration, we are encouraging everyone to review their mailbox for large attachments and archive these files. You can use the new cloud storage tools available in M365 to store these files after the migration. Learn how to find large email attachments.

Most mailboxes will migrate without any issues, but extremely large mailboxes with many large attachments will take longer to migrate and potentially have issues. The IT helpdesk will contact you and offer assistance if your mailbox is too large for a smooth automated migration.
