Books, eBooks, journals, articles, and video
You can search OneSearch to peruse the libraries’ holdings. If a print book you need is not at Brooklyn College but is available at another CUNY library, you can request it by clicking the ‘Request’ link.
The Library also subscribes to several academic and research databases to meet various research needs.
For articles and chapters not available at Brooklyn College, and print books not available at CUNY, please use our interlibrary loan service.
Videos, including VHS, DVD, and streaming options can be found in OneSearch, or via our streaming video platforms. The Library can license films through Kanopy for your class by filling out a request form pending available funds.
Reserves
Links to materials available online through the Library’s collections can be added to your online course site by copying and pasting the permalink for that item.
To place library-owned items, or to request the Library purchase an item for on-site reserves, the instructor must complete the Course Reserves Request Form. Due to the required processing, time, and high volume of reserve requests, faculty should submit reserve lists to the Circulation Desk at least four weeks prior to the beginning of a new semester.
Photocopies of journal articles and chapters of books to be placed on reserve should be provided by the instructor. Multiple copies can be placed on reserve depending on the assignment and class enrollment—usually one copy for every twenty students. If the Library is unable to acquire the required materials, faculty members may place their personal copies on reserve. Please note that neither bound periodicals nor interlibrary loan materials may be placed on reserve.
At the end of the semester, reserve material will be returned to the stacks without further notice to the instructor. Faculty wishing to have the materials kept on reserve for the following term must notify the Circulation Desk before the end of the current semester.
For further assistance, please contact the Circulation Desk at (718) 951-5335, or Reserves@brooklyn.cuny.edu.

SMART Classrooms
Faculty & Adjuncts may reserve a Windows or OSX Smart Classroom on the 3rd floor of the Library for occasional, specific class meetings requiring the use of technology in a hands-on multimedia computer facility.
The Windows classroom (Room 383 Library) accommodates 35 students and has one dedicated instructor station; the iMac classroom (Room 384 Library) accommodates 33 participants and has one dedicated instructor station. Both smart classrooms have dual projectors, whiteboard materials & wall-mounted speakers for room-wide audio.
Due to high demand, Smart Classrooms cannot be scheduled for every class meeting during a semester. Check availability and reserve a Smart Classroom here.
