CUNYfirst Term Codes

CUNYfirst terms (e.g., Fall 2020) are most frequently referred to by a four-digit code. The system prompts for these term codes or are referenced on many pages that we frequent, including class permissions, departmental class rosters, departmental grade rosters, and ePermit requests, and more.

Term codes are broken down into four components:

• Last digit of the century
• Last two-digits of the year
• Term
  • Fall = 9
  • Spring = 2
  • Summer = 6

Using this breakdown, we can translate our terms into term codes. Below are some examples.
