CUNY Cybersecurity Awareness Training

The 2026-2027 Cybersecurity Training will be available soon. All employees must complete the Cybersecurity Awareness Training once per year.

CUNY offers a 40-minute interactive Cybersecurity Awareness Training course for Employees that covers practical tips for protecting yourself and the college against online threats. All faculty and staff are required to complete this training once per year.

The course is tailored to CUNY employees and helps you gain a comprehensive understanding of the cybersecurity risks we all face, along with some best practices for safeguarding your data and opening dangerous links or attachments.

Our collective effort in understanding cybersecurity best practices plays a pivotal role in protecting the college’s data, resources, and reputation.

How do I access the training?

  1. Use the direct link or open Brightspace
  2. Find the My Courses section
  3. Select Brooklyn College Staff Cyber Security Awareness Training 2025 – 2026

Is this mandatory?

Yes. The CUNY Board of Trustees resolution approving calendar item 4.B from February 2024 states on page 9:

WHEREAS, All Users will be required to complete technology training, including cybersecurity awareness training, as directed by the University;

Didn’t we do this in the Fall? Wasn’t the deadline different?

This is an annual training required by CUNY, with the year starting on September 1. If someone completed the 2024/25 training prior to September 1, they will need to complete the training again to remain compliant for the 2025/26 year.
