East Quad Project Update: Progress and What to Expect Beginning June 1

Dear Brooklyn College Community,

I am pleased to share that work on the East Quad continues to move forward on schedule, bringing us closer to a revitalized and more welcoming campus core. This project is an important investment in the student experience and in the long-term vibrancy of our shared spaces, and it is exciting to see it steadily taking shape.

Starting on Monday, June 1, 2026, in the next phase of construction, the contractor is moving primary work to the other side of the East Quad. As a result, we will need to change in how we access and move around this part of campus. To support a smooth transition, new signage will be installed to guide you.

Key pedestrian traffic changes include:

  • The main Bedford Avenue gate to campus will be closed. However, the doors on Bedford Avenue leading directly into Ingersoll Hall will be open. If you enter campus there, you can go through Ingersoll, exit toward the quad, and walk the new sidewalks around the East Quad to access Boylan Hall, the Library, Whitman Hall, the Tow Center, and other buildings on the east side of campus.
  • Access to Boylan Hall and other east-side buildings will also remain available via the Campus Road Well, the Campus Road Bike Rack entrance, and the Tow Center entrance.

We recognize that these temporary changes will require some adjustment, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as this transformative work continues. The end result will be a more accessible, dynamic, and student-centered East Quad that better reflects the energy and aspirations of Brooklyn College.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and for helping us move this important project forward. Best  regards,

Alan Gilbert
