How do I set up my employee email on an Android device?

1. Open your device Settings and select the option to add a Microsoft Exchange account.

Depending on your device, it may appear as Exchange, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, or Corporate.

2. Use the following information to complete the form (using the manual setup option):

  • Email address: Your full Brooklyn College email address (e.g. netgroup@brooklyn.cuny.edu)
  • Domain\Username: brooklyncollege\username (e.g. brooklyncollege\netgroup)
  • Password: Your Brooklyn College email password
  • Exchange Server: exchange.brooklyn.cuny.edu
  • Make sure that the Use secure connection (SSL) option is checked.

3. You should see a screen appear that says Checking incoming server settings

Wait for this to finish and press OK to continue. You might see a security message pop up at this time.

4. Select your preferred options in the manual setup

The Period to sync Email determines how many past messages are retrieved to your phone (select “All time” for your entire mailbox). A similar option is available for your Calendar. You can also choose to sync your contacts, calendar, and tasks.

Select Next to continue.

You may receive another security popup asking for permission to activate your device administrator. Select Activate to continue.

6. Name your mail box

You can optionally choose a mailbox name (e.g. BC-Mail) or use the default.

Your BC Email should now be ready! Open your default Android email app, and select it from the list of available mailboxes.
