Do I need to do anything in preparation for the email migration to Microsoft 365?

In most cases, you won’t need to do anything to prepare. Brooklyn College ITS and CUNY Central are working hard to make the move to Microsoft 365 (M365) as seamless as possible. Your existing emails, calendars, and tasks will be migrated automatically and your email address will remain the same (@brooklyn.cuny.edu). Instructions will be provided shortly on how to configure your desktop Outlook, mobile devices, and webmail links for M365. You will use your CUNY Login credentials to access your email after the move.

If you have email attachments larger than 20 megabytes in your mailbox, ITS will contact you with instructions to save or archive these attachments, as they cannot be migrated automatically. If you are comfortable, you can get a head start by following this simple guide explaining how to find large and remove large email attachments in Outlook for Windows and Mac.

More information and updates will be shared via email as the migration work continues.

If you maintain personal Outlook archive files (.pst files), you can optionally choose to import those archives into M365 once the migration is complete, giving you access to all of your messages from any device.
