Brooklyn College provides secure Wi‑Fi across campus for the entire college community. Connecting takes two things: your BC Wi‑Fi credentials and the setup steps for your device.
Find your BC Wi-Fi username and password
Your BC Wi‑Fi credentials are also called your Local Network ID. The same credentials give you access to BC Wi‑Fi and to wired network ports in non‑administrative offices and buildings on campus.
Where your credentials come from depends on when you joined the college.
If you joined before Spring 2024
Your credentials come from your legacy college email account, the one you used before the Microsoft 365 migration.
Username: everything before @brooklyn.cuny.edu in your college email address
Password: your legacy college email password
If you joined during or after Spring 2024
You were assigned a random Wi‑Fi password rather than one tied to an email account. Contact the ITS Helpdesk for assistance.
There is no automated way to recover a legacy email ID or password, so if you’ve forgotten either one, the Helpdesk will need to reset your Local Network ID and BC‑WiFi password for you. See Local Network ID / BC Wi‑Fi Password for details.
Choosing the right Wi-Fi network
You’ll see more than one network name when you open your Wi‑Fi settings on campus. Here’s what each one is for.
| Network | Use it when |
|---|---|
| BC-WiFi | Your first choice. It uses newer Wi‑Fi technology and is faster. Uses your BC Wi‑Fi credentials. |
| BC-WiFi-Legacy | Your fallback if your device can’t connect to BC‑WiFi. It’s slower but works with a wider range of devices. Uses your BC Wi‑Fi credentials. |
| eduroam | Available in limited areas on campus, mainly for visitors from other CUNY campuses and other eduroam institutions. Faculty and staff can also use eduroam when visiting those campuses — see the CUNY eduroam instructions for your device type. Uses your CUNY Login. |
