How do I store, share, and backup large volumes of files?

CUNY provides all employees with licenses to Dropbox and Microsoft 365 (OneDrive) cloud services, both of which can be used to store, backup, and/or share large volumes of files that do not contain personally identifiable information. Learn about the differences between Dropbox and OneDrive.

What about personally identifiable information (PII)?

All data stored in Dropbox and Microsoft 365 is subject to CUNY’s Security and Computer Use policies and guidelines detailed in the Acceptable Use of University Data in the Cloud Policy. You should also review CUNY’s data classification table to determine if your data contains PII.

If your data includes PII, see available options for storing data with PII. Also, contact the Office of Legal Affairs and Labor Relations at 718.951.3118 to discuss.
