How to: View Unofficial Student Transcripts

Faculty and administrators that serve in an advisement capacity or need to review student records for ePermit approvals or degree audit purposes may download student transcripts from CUNYfirst directly. Transcripts provide an overall view of a student’s academic career at the College and provide a grade point average (GPA) and credit calculation for each term.

Instructions

To view a student’s unofficial transcript, follow the steps below.

  • Log into CUNYfirst.
  • Click on the compass icon on the top right hand corner of the screen to open the NavBar.
  • Click on Menu.
  • Follow the navigation below to get to your Advisor Center.

Campus Solutions > Self Service > Advisor Center > My Advisees

  • Click on View data for other students to search for a student.
  • Enter the student’s information. Then, click Search.

This page will search across all student records that are in CUNYfirst. It is suggested that you search by a student’s CUNYfirst ID number (EMPLID) to narrow down results.

  • Select the student from the Search Results list.
  • In the drop down menu under the Academics section, select Transcript: View Unofficial. Then, click on the blue >> icon to proceed.
  • Select the desired Report Type. In most cases, the Advisor Unofficial Copy will suffice. Then, click View Report.

Brooklyn College staff and faculty will only have access to run Brooklyn College transcripts. If you need to view records from other CUNY Colleges, it is suggested that you view the student’s record in the Student Summary View – CUNY page (Navigation: NavBar > Navigator > Campus Solutions > CUNY Student Summary View > Student Summary View – CUNY).

The transcript will download in a new tab on your browser and will be available for immediate viewing.

Transcript Information

  • If a transcript does not download, make sure that your popup blockers are disabled for CUNYfirst. Once they are disabled, you should be able to redownload the transcript by clicking on the View Report button again.
  • Students generally have access to download their own student transcripts. Financial aid holds may prohibit a student from accessing their transcript. Students should be directed to resolve any hold that prohibits them from downloading their transcript.
  • Departments/offices on campus should not print/give transcripts to students with any holds that prevent them from accessing transcripts on their own. Please direct these students to the Registrar for further support.
  • The Office of the Registrar may generate transcripts in bulk upon request. To request transcripts in batch, please contact us.
